My Story: How to build a CV

Howlands Centre, Dewsbury, School Street, Dewsbury, WF13 1LD

My development

For many of us, the prospect of sitting down and writing a CV is one that sends chills down the spine. We might feel uncomfortable boasting about our skills or are clueless knowing what recruiters might be looking for. If we are brave enough to fire up the laptop, we then find ourselves second-guessing everything we put down on the page. We know that whatever we write will be picked apart and scrutinised against others, who are just as eager to secure that job. So how do we make sure that our CV tells employers what they want to know in the most effective and quickest way?

This workshop, kindly delivered by our friendly Peer Worker, Ash and Employment Specialist, Neil from South West Yorkshire NHS Partnership Trust’s IPS team, provides a comprehensive breakdown of how to make sure your CV passes that first and most crucial test. Together we will discover the core features of a gold-standard CV that will help capture a recruiter’s eye and help us succeed in our job or volunteering application.
