Life skills and interests
Join us as we head back in time to the late 19th Century and learn about the Golden Age of Hollywood! Delivered by two of our friendly and enthusiastic Recovery College volunteers who have a huge passion for this subject, this fun four-week course provides the chance to learn, relax and escape from the stresses and strains of daily life. Together, we will learn about the very beginnings of Motion Pictures; discover how the studios came into being, learn about the earliest pioneers, including the likes of Thomas Edison, the introduction of ‘talkies’ and how America began to dominate the film industry. Throughout the course, we will watch many famous movie clips containing some of the biggest stars of the screen of the 1920’s such as Douglas Fairbanks and Charlie Chaplin plus many more. On the final week we’ll watch a full-length movie from this era together – the perfect activity for dark winter days. Oh and popcorn is provided! This course is suitable for all learners, whether or not you have previously undertaken a Golden Age of Hollywood course.
Please be aware that this course is extremely popular and places fill up quickly so book now to avoid disappointment!
